My Phonetics
My Phonetics was founded in 1999 and started selling the first of the My Phonetics worksheets in 2000.
It uses synthetic phonic method of teaching the letter and sounds relations with the help of smiley, program was developed by Mrs. Rashmi Patel Bailwad, enabling children to become fluent readers.
My Phonetics program helps Indian children to understand the English alphabet and its sounds, In India, more than 22 native languages are there. Each student originating from one of these languages, for these children, it is difficult to grasp the English letters, sounds, words, it’s meaning and other details of the English language such as English Grammar.
Rashmi Patel Bailwad is the Director and owner of My Phonetics. She founded My Phonetics in 1999. My Phonetics is an Indian based program which she developed while practicing as a classroom teacher. In 2000 Rashmi started her own preschool called “My First Step“ and also My Phonetic classes with only 27 students. There she started understanding the need of phonics in the Indian crowd or those students who are willing to learn English language, to read and to spell correctly.
Most importantly Rashmi’s own daughter was born with cleft lip palate (photo) in 2010, which made her do practical research with Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi alphabets , as she lives in Mumbai and apart from English language, these are three languages which are important to speak with correct accent and pronunciation, for example: sh/th, also about which sound comes from throat , which sound needs palate, (n/th/I), which letter doesn’t need palate to pronounce, certain letters for clear speech without nasal voice.
